Full Bio

Hey What’s up everyone, thanks for checking out my website. This is a full Bio so you can get to know me more. I was born in Calgary, Alberta but when I was 7 years old my parents bought a bowling alley in a small farming town in High River, Alberta. Soon after that we moved to High River where I felt like an outcast at first but made the best friends of my life. My parents eventually bought a one screen movie theatre called the “Wales Theatre” where I worked at for years to come as a projectionist while my friends were out getting drunk and laid.

I was always a fan of Improv and used to do it throughout middle and high school. I joined an Improv team in high school and we stayed together long after we graduated. Luckily my parents owned the movie theatre which had a stage and we started putting on Improv shows there. I was 19 years old and over the summer we slowly gained popularity in the town of High River. Our last show of the summer we ended up with over 250 people from High River and area coming out to support us. In between the Improv we sprinkled in some Stand-up. This was the first time I tried telling my own written jokes in front of an audience. My jokes were about gas prices and the “Milkshake” song by Kelis. It actually got some laughs and fell in love with Stand-up after that night. When you do Improv there is 3 other people on stage with you, I never thought I would have the balls to be on stage by myself, but I got the taste of it and knew that this is what I wanted to do!

For the next 5 years I finished my BSc degree at the University of Alberta in Edmonton and also started doing as much Improv and Stand-up as I could. I was planning to go into medicine when I went to school but deep down I knew I wanted to be a comedian and ended up pursuing that rather than medicine to my parents dismay. I did any gig that I was offered many in some Northern Alberta town, for very little money but very valuable experience. I was raised Muslim and grew up in High River, and most of my earlier jokes were based on that.

When I was 23 I moved back to Calgary and started a weekly show at a place called “Jupiter Lounge” with Eric Steel who is another comedian who I started with in High River on the Improv team. That is where we started “Jupiter Comedy”. The “Jupiter Lounge” is now called the “Oak Tree Tavern” and we have been running every Wednesday since 2011. This room helped me gain valuable experience performing, promoting, running a show, and dealing with people and comedians.

I love Calgary and its been a great city to start comedy in. I did shows all over Western Canada and its been a great experience. I got to perform at the Jubilee Theater for over 1500 people at the YYC Comedy Festival and that was one of my favorite memories. I have also got to tour around the UK in the last few years and get some valuable experience performing in another country with a different culture. As of 2018 I am now living in Toronto and which is a beautiful city filled with more opportunities which I am ready to receive.

Toronto has been great to me. In 2018 I did the “Just For Laughs 42” Festival, The Seattle International Comedy Festival, and got my album “Brown Privilege” on “Just For Laughs radio” on Sirius XM. I am now focused on creating more online content and working on a new hour of comedy to film in the future.

2020 was very kind to me despite the craziness. I did end up starting a podcast called God Yay or Nay? Where I can talk about topics like growth, mental health, meditation, psychedelics and other topics I love with many interesting people. Its gained a following and got signed to the Comedy Here Often? Podcast Network with “604 Records”. I also filmed my first national TV set for CBC at the Winnipeg Comedy Festival. On top of that I recorded a set for Just for Laughs Canada for SiriusXM Satellite Radio.
